Its A Boy Scout Thing...

...something about always being prepared or something like that? Yeah, we're all over that business.

Fact: We're going to California for TWO WEEKS in TWO DAYS!

Fact: Its about a bajillion degrees out there.

Fact: We WILL be going to the pool/lake/ocean/outdoors all the time

Fiction: Luke is coming with us.

Fact: Me and Mr. Finn are gonna miss that man like crazay!

Back to being prepared. Ahem. Its finally sunny AND warm in good ol' Utah so we did some last minute practicing of our going-outdoors-skills today and frankly, I think we both did quite well at handling that stranger called "sunshine". So yeah, we're ready for you California. Bring it.
Sun hat, suncreen: check AND check

cuteness: double check!

Baby In a Drawer....

This kid apparently can't go too long without seeing his mama (can you blame him?!). Which is an optimistic way of saying: Finn STILL wakes up at least twice a night...sigh.

But before you give me your useless sympathies (unless your sympathy is gonna let me take a nap, its useless...got it? :)) let me just say that I've mostly gotten used to still never sleeping.

On a side note, when Finn was about 2.5 months old he slept all night...I don't know what happened...

Anywho, there are definitely nights when the grips of sleep deprivation get to me and I start doing some weird stuff. Take the other night for example. In my sleep I put the monitor reciever in the drawer next to my bed...it was probably my sub-conscience attempting to muffle the sound of Finn's awakening's. When Finn woke up, thus waking me up, I started FREAKING out because I thought I had put him in the drawer. IN THE DRAWER.

Don't worry, social services...there was no baby in the drawer.

And then there was last night. Finn usually wakes up once before midnight. But last night 12:30 rolls around and Finn is still sleeping (not like a baby as you might assume...no, more sleeping like me if I didn't have a baby). So my sub-conscience kicks in ONCE again and convinces me to sleepwalk to Finn's room take him out of his crib and finally into the living room before I realize that shoot, he was freaking asleep. But apparently my lovely brain is hardwired to deal with a baby at midnight and sleep be damned it was going to deal with a baby at midnight!

And that's my story :)

plus, who needs sleep when you're this cute?!

Teeny Houdini

I swear, you leave the room for ONE minute!

Yep, he was sitting in there a second ago...
Which then lead to:

Like nothing even happened...

I guess once he can get out of the chair as dexterously as this it might be time to retire the ol' blue bouncy chair.

We're So Cheese-y...

Two posts?! In one day?! My creativity knows no bounds...

But I have photos that the blogosphere needs to see...its imperative.
I kind of went on a cheese fueled extravaganza after dinner (Cheese makes me happy, ok? And we had stuffed crust pizza AND salt and vinegar potato chips with queso...you may think it sounds nasty but it ain't.). I got it in my head that we had HAD to take a family picture. Finn spit up all over his clothes so he went butt nekkid:

In other picture-related news...I snapped this gem this morning:

Finn has decided that in order to stress me out WHILE I sleep he'd start sleeping on his stomach for kicks...notice the breathe-able bumper? Yeah, he also likes to smush his face into the side of the crib to further stress me out. He's a champ.

I'm thinking when the weather gets a little less bipolar I might be able to regale you, dear readers, with something other than photos that are the after effects of cheese-induced hapiness...but we'll see :)

TARDIS Time....

Its no secret that I kinda love Dr. Who.Seriously peeps, the biggest decision in my life so far hasn't been what to name my child, which college to go to, or whether or not I should continue my "career"...oh no, my biggest decision is whether or not I like David Tennent or Matt Smith better...sorry Christopher Eccleston, you're not even in the running.

(Just Kidding...naming a child was a pretty big decision, I guess)

Anywho (pun intended), with the season premiere coming up in T-minus 10 hours (!), I decided that, with my plethora of spare time, I would do this:

Yup, that's a cake. That looks like the TARDIS (thats Time And Relative Dimension In Space for all ya'll non-nerds out there). It used to change shape to fit the time period the Doctor was visiting but it broke in when it landed in the 60's and is now stuck in the shape of a police box....and now you know :)

Man, I feel pathetically nerdy

I'm Much Too Impatient for All This Business...

Common phrases you'll hear in the course of the day:

"Finn, if you don't get a tooth by tomorrow, I swear I'm getting you dentures"

"Finn, if you don't start crawling right this minute, I'm giving you to an orphanage"

"Luke, do you think Finn will start walking soon? Talking?"

"Seriously Finn, you need to pop that tooth out ASAP...I'm calling the dentist"

"When can I feed him cheeeeezeburgers??!"

I know I'll regret all this impatient-osity sometime in the near future. But I can't help it, its my character flaw...le sigh.

But on the plus side, he's getting a tooth tomorrow. I can just feel it. That and he's finally started sleeping all night again. Shoot. If I should have been impatient for anything it shoulda been THAT.

He's mastered sleeping like a big boy, that's fo sho...

I Have A Bone To Pick...

Every Wednesday and Friday I make the 10 minute trek to the Gold's Gym in American Fork to join the realm of the 40-somethings who, spurned by menopause and slowing metabolisms, all seem to spend the majority of their morning engulfed in the war against cellulite. Most wearing an indecent amount of spandex that shows the tell-tale signs of the aforementioned war being a lost effort.

In any case, these empty-nesters, devoid of the responsibility of feeding a small child, etc. have the privilege of arriving to the cycle class early. An hour and a half early. Apparently oblivious to the sign on the door that says "No Saving Bikes" I constantly find myself arriving to class 25 minutes early only to find an empty room full of bikes adorned with small towels, Kirkland water bottles and the odd paper towel stuffed into the handlebars; each item declaring, "You Cannot Use This Bike"

...sigh. What's a mother with an hour window of workout time to do?

Most times I'll find the most unassuming article of bike-saving and toss it aside before the class gets full. Something that could have easily fallen to the side on its own in order to maintain the facade of innocence (can't you just see me batting my eyelids at anyone claiming that I am a bike theif?). In every case (until now) I've managed to 'steal' the bike of someone who is timid enough to let it slide. Or just arrived so early to claim their spot that they forgot about it entirely.

Until today. 915 rolls around and I feel once again gratified that I made it unscathed by the obviously territorial stay-at-home-moms. Until class starts and I guess my ticket was up. A spandex-clad lady starts telling me how I stole her friend's bike all while attempting to move my jacket and keys away from said bike. After pointing out the sign ON THE DOOR, not-so-politely telling her that, "if she touches my stuff one more time...", using the occasional swear word to get my point across and finally telling her that if it was her friend's bike then she should mind her own business and have her friend take it up with me.....it turns out her friend wasn't as perturbed as she obviously thought she should have been and left me to my bike without another word.

Go figure.

So, ladies of Gold's Gym...keep fighting the good fight. You win this time. Because I am never going to a Wednesday Cycle class again, lest I have to get there at 730am...or start throwing punches.

Don't make me go all Mike Tyson on y'all...
