Happy *****Day!

So yesterday was a special day...for Luke...even though he won't admit it. I'll let this picture explain:

Luke is like the birthday Grinch, but I made a cake anyway to see if he would warm up to the idea that a birthday is a celebration...and I think he may have. Slightly :)How could you not when your cake has Golden Oreos AND Reese's Pieces on it! But as you can see I was very tactful about not reminding him how old he is (I'll give you a hint: Its got a '0' and a '3' in it...and he ain't turnin' 03 people). Good times! In other news, my birthday (and Nick's) is in 23 days...let the countdown begin!

In other OTHER news, Finn had his two week checkup and stats are as follows:

Weight: 6 lbs 11oz
Height: 19.25"

Oh, and he's still cute. Phew :)

Finn Rebarchik

Wanna hear a story? Of course you do...thats why you're here :)

Finn Rebarchik was born on Thursday September 16th, 2010 at 3:17pm. He was 6 lbs 4oz, which greatly discredited my theory that he was going to be a 20 lb baby (but he was about 11 days early so he might have gained 14 more lbs in that time). The poor guy had the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck not once, but TWICE. I'm telling you, he's a trooper :)

All in all, delivery/recovery was pretty dandy. I started having contractions at around 230am that morning (and I haven't really slept since. Sad). After waiting around for a good, long while Luke, my mother and I decided to head to the hospital even though I was convinced they were going to send me home. My contractions were about 3-5 minutes apart but I could talk and walk through them so I was like, "eh, we'll see what they say"...after checking in, it turns out I was already 5cm dilated. Go figure! So they kept me there and gave me an epidural...which I actually felt bad about because I wasn't screaming in agony like the people you see on TV...I'm also a trooper...that's where he gets it from. I looked like this (my mom HAD to get a picture of me pregnant for the last time):

A few hours later its time to push! So I push, push, push away, the whole time my legs as numb as anything, and 30 minutes later we were blessed with this little bundle of joy:

He truly is the most fantastic human being I have ever come across. He's so calm and happy...he just sits with his eyes open, taking in the world. Nothing (yet!) seems to phase him and I'm really looking forward to seeing if that continues :) I could just stare at him all day...and I do :)

As for me, I feel like a cow...not because I'm fat...but because I'm a freaking 24hr milk factory. However, it does make me feel very productive. So that's a plus. And while I may be sleep deprived I am loving every minute of this "motherhood" thing. Luke is also fantastic even though he had to go back to work today. Lame. He is such a good dad :)

Now I'm going to go take a nap. Like this guy:

What's in a Name Anway?

So Luke and I have very tentatively picked out a name for Bambino....tentatively. We're not committing because what if he comes out looking like a Bob Rebarchik? Or Fantastico Rebarchik? Or a girl?! So many options, people!

With that being said everyone and their mom have picked out fantastic names for him...all of which we will use "just in case":

Nick and Amanda: Paco...in case he comes out Mexican

Sheree: Valentino...in case he comes out gay :)

Sharece: Lizard...reptile

and my all time favorite:
Luke: Rebarchitron the Destroyer...if he comes out a robot :)

So, I guess I'll just wait here then....

Here's whats on my list of things to do this week:

-Twiddle my thumbs

-Stare listlessly out the window

-Paint a wall and then watch it dry

-Cut the grass and wait for it to grow back again

-Glare at my belly, willing it to do s.o.m.e.t.h.i.n.g.

You get the picture....I went to the doctor's office and apparently this baby ain't in no rush to go nowhere...I love grammar. In any case, the nursery is set up, my bag is packed and I'm desperately fighting the urge to just show up at the hospital yelling, "let's get this party started!"...I'll give it a week before I resort to that, though.

But here's why I can't blame him for staying alap (as long as possible):

-Food is being directly channeled straight to his stomach...and isn't that every man's dream?!

-Two words: No. Clothes. Isn't that every man's other dream?!

-He's being transported everywhere in a cushy sack of liquid...man's other, OTHER dream.

Yeah, you get the picture...he's living the man's life in there :)

What does a moose, 4 giraffes and some grasshoppers all have in common?

They're all in this little guy's nursery! Yeah, its eclectic but look at the family he comes from!

I've been on my indefinite maternity leave for TWO days and the nursery is already stocked, locked, loaded and ready to go...unfortunately, the doctor thinks little one here has two more weeks before he's locked, loaded and ready to go. Shoot. Now I'm gonna have to get crafty or something...or just start watching TV...or make another trip to Ikea. Mmmm...Swedish meatballs :)

So without further ado:

The main thang...

The OTHER side of the room...yes, it looks like the rocker is illuminated in heavenly light....because it IS.

Giraffes! I know they don't really go with grasshoppers, but who can resist a bunch of cute giraffes! No one!

And finally, the moose. With scarf made by me and hats made by my momma...who also might have too much time on her hands as we wait patiently for bambino :)
