Even better than the one where the Doctor saved us all from the Titanic that was going to crash into the earth.
That never happened? Obviously you never saw that Doctor Who special. Get with it, guys. Keep up.
I digress…stockings were stuffed, cookies for
Santa were made. The tree was still ALIVE. We were pulling out all stops. I felt like a real 'momsy' kind of adult. I even wrote a letter from Santa to Finn. How cool am I?!
(he didn't care)
I was like the Christmas ambassador to the Rebarchik
household.
It was legit.
But then Finn’s ear infection still hadn’t cleared up. And he was up crying all night come Christmas
eve.
And he was covered in a rash from the fever that had just
broken.
And his crying kept waking Isla up. So me and Luke had to
switch off sleeping on the floor in her room with her because it was the only
place she would stay asleep and Finn was crashing in our bed.
And Isla had a serious black eye from standing up in her
crib at night (seriously) and falling down and banging it on something. I don’t
know what…I was trying to, you know, sleep.
It was the pits, man.
But come Christmas morning we rallied on 3 hours of sleep
and opened presents and napped and then went to my mom’s house where even BETTER
presents were to be had. Robots? A full on play kitchen?! You win this round,
grandma.
We all made out like bandits, though. I got TWO
Anthropologie coats and a boatload of clothes. Luke got a blu-ray player, and a
second monitor for his computer (coolest wife ever, right?). Isla now has a
better wardrobe than me and Finn…well, maybe we were having pity on him because
he got so many toys and books and clothes (did I mention the huge play kitchen?)
that I don’t think he quite knows what to do with himself.
And then we stuffed ourselves stupid, watched the Dr. Who
Christmas special and called it a night.
And now I’m wallowing in my post-indulgence-feeling-fat-fest.
Its a beautiful, fantastic thing, people.
And now…the highlight reel:
Finn got a sewing machine! Just kidding, that's my business. He likes to sit there and yell "make noise!"
Right?! So cute.
She stands up on everything.
We still have stockings! We will act like children as long as these exist. Thats a promise.
I did the mustache thing and it was gross.
