Houston, We Have A Problem...

...in that Finn has been totally shafting me in sleep department. As I once bragged with hands-on-hips that Finn slept aaaallll night long, I now find myself up at all hours of the night with a demonic child screaming in my face. Fun, right? Riiight. I kind of have that sexy, tired look going on right now.

So whats with the change? I have no idea. I must confess that I still swaddle the little sucker in a straight jacket every night...I tried letting him go commando for a couple nights but that kinda made the situation kinda a lot worse. With little control of those chubby little arms the poor guy was waking up punching himself in the face every hour...its funny except for the part where its 3am. Lol'ing I am not.

With all this sleep deprivation going on it is a wonder I haven't completely snapped...not that it hasn't happened before. Back around Christmas when we were holiday'ing in California Finn was up all night doin' what babies do best. I went to check on him thinking in my sleepy stupor that I had put him in the crib the OTHER way around.....freaking out ensued as I was convinced that his sleep sack had completely engulfed his head. After hearing this Luke got Finn ready for bed the next night and I walked in on THIS lovely scene:

Ahem. Thanks, Luke. Verrrrry Funny.
...ahh the lifestyles of the rich and famous...or poor and sleepy. Whatever works.

Because I Felt Like Writing Something...

...confession time!

I just ate WAAAY too much dessert. Like cookie from The Chocolate, Kneaders Rasberry Bread Pudding and some cake too much. Yeah. Wow. Why? Because it was THERE.

Was I hungry? Nope. Do I need extra calories? Probably not. Did I do it anyway? You betcha!

I wish these kind of thoughts went through my head less often than they do. Like, WAY less often. But habits are so hard to break when they are so delicious!

Not even kidding you, there is a pack of Reese's cups in the fridge right now that I WILL eat because I just can't help my bad self. Oh yeah. Rebel. Big. Fat. Rebel.

Another confession...I hate it when the TV is loud. Basically I can have it with no volume and I'd be happy. Luke hates this. Right now we are in a volume war. Two remotes. One TV. Let the battles begin, baby.

Finn likes to watch TV. I'm currently allowing this because the boy is in a WHINY mood and its been a long week...blah blah blah, more bad parenting choices, blah blah blah :)

Oh, and P.S. This is what Finn looks like RIGHT NOW!

Solid Matter

Yeah, I said I was going to wait until the monster was 6 months old to start this fiasco but I'm a rebel like that and I just couldn't help my bad self.

I shouldn't be complaining though, right? Its not like he's diving into a steak dinner or anything...more like a mushy mess of something that is supposed to be some kind of rice.. you know, the messy stuff babies just can't wait to get all over themselves? That's what I'm getting myself into.

But you know he'd totally take a steak dinner over mush any day...he's my studly man like that :)

So, without further adieu, Finn's first experience with solids (in pictures!):

The prep: bib ready to go...notice the look of anticipation and slight fear in his eyes

The face off...

He did it! And liked it! Maybe?

Aaaand he likes eating his bib better...go figure :)

4 Months!

Yep, my baby's all grow'd up... *tear*

We hit the four month mark with a momentous trip to the Emergency Room...again. It must be his favorite place to go because YET AGAIN after a night of relentless crying in some sort of pain we get to the ER and Finn is happy as a damn clam. Which means YET AGAIN the nurses and doctors look at me like I'm a nutter (see hernia story...ahem). Thanks, Finn. Sheesh.

Turns out it was just gas.

I'll look back on this and laugh, I'm sure of it... Maybe after I've footed the bill for his stinky butt. Literally.

He's been fine ever since...naturally.

Now for his 4 month stats...because I know you care :)

Weight: 14.5 lbs (that's in the 50th percentile! Average! Take that all you naysayers who call him fat!)

Height: 25 inches (50th percentile again! This kid is so average...)

Head Circumference: Once again...who cares.

And besides going to hospitals, he's gotten really good at grabbing things and putting them in his mouth and growing hair...yep, his peach fuzz is growing into VERY blonde real-person hair. He has also decided that sleeping through the night is for babies, and he wants to get up 3 times a night just to say hi. Gotta love it though, right? Right?! Maybe.

ha ha!

Why Won't My 4 mo. Old Poop?

Oh, the things you google when you're a mom.....

I Miss You, Lord Byron...

...I guess what I mean to say is that I miss.....get ready for this, people.....school (gasps! swooning! etc!). I never thought I'd see the day.

Maybe its not just school, I think I'm missing the creative outlet that school provided. I miss writing....and thinking. 'Cause let me tell you, there isn't much thinking involved with this whole stay-at-home-mom business. Wake up, feed the baby, change a diaper, feed the baby, let the baby take a nap, change the baby, feed the baby. Not. Very. Exciting.

What I'm trying to say is if I start writing essays about Shakespeare or publishing short stories on this modest blog of mine, please understand. Its the English major in me wrangling its way out...what can I say?

So dreamy....

Finally Caught It...

Finally caught that laugh of his.....but I think this is more than a laugh...this kid is literally busting a gut. Gotta love it :)

Tee hee!
